Smoke & Fire Festival

We had the most amazing time at this years Smoke & Fire Festival. Great to see so many of our BBQ peers that we haven’t yet met or spent time with since all this Savage business began!

It was our first outdoor big festival, for obvious covid reasons – and we really wanted to be sure we had everything and gave you all a great show on our stand. We have worked for weeks, along side the usual work madness we have every day – arranging what we were cooking, who was coming, what we needed and how logistically we were going to do it.

Eddy & the boys drove two of our 1200 cages down to Colchester on the Thursday and then came back to Nottingham to reload. We had 3 in total to take as the lovely Jason from ‘Love From The Streets’ was using 2 of them all weekend in the VIP area. Check out the food pics on his instagram – it was immense!

Thursday night he picked our ‘Culinary Demon’ Jurgen up from Birmingham Airport to bring him back to Savage HQ for the night. And for beers…and for kebab… I can’t say that they were fresh as daisies at 6am the following morning when it was time to rock and roll – but they somehow managed to pull it off! It was a long day Friday. We’re 3ish hours away from Colchester and we had cages, meat, fish, fruit, veg, pots, pans, charcoal, merch, camping equipment, fridges – the lot – to get into the festival and sort out. Friday night was fantastic. A chance to unwind, meet up with our Team Savage, have a wander around the site, have some lush food and drinks and watch the music acts, Stereotonics & Oasish – who were both absolutely brilliant.

And then it was Saturday. All systems go! The festival opened each morning at 10.30am and Jurgen, Eddy & Fal were prepping and cooking non-stop all day until close around 8.30pm. It was an endless stream of slather-inducing fire food! Our stall was constantly busy and moving and people were so excited to come and see the Fire Cage in action in real life! Aston, from Smokin Maple Meats was with us a lot of the time and was brilliant and such a help – we had a great time with him and his mum Becky. Everyone in our team worked so hard all weekend, we could not have been more proud. From helping to load vans, to fetching and carrying when needed, setting up camp, handing out the merchandise, prepping food, cleaning up, talking to our wonderful customers, the list goes on. By the time it was all over and we were all packed up and back home – we were happy but exhausted.

It was such a great experience and we have been thrilled by your response. We met some incredible people and we really must say thanks again to our Team Savage.

If you would like to get your Fire Cage ordered, or just want to have a chat with us about what you would like, then get in touch. If we spoke to you at the festival and you’re still deciding, we are honoring our weekend festival discount to you if you order before the end of the week. (29th August 2021.)
